IDPS Automate

Overview

Automate is an end-to-end platform designed to handle the entire IDP process and provide valuable insights required for these types of projects to be successful. In addition to common IDP processes like classification and extraction, we add other critical components such as monitoring, tracking, logging, reporting, alerting, analysis, and more. These components allow for finding and correcting errors quickly, as well as getting ahead of problems before they grow out-of-control.

Automate has very flexible hosting options. Rather using your existing environment or a new deployment, Automate can be hosted on-premises, in your current cloud environment (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP), or by IDPS.

Design Philosophy

Having proper insights and analysis at the right time makes everyone’s job easier. Management is more easily able to answer difficult questions like: what is our accuracy?, how many documents did we process today?, are we getting our money’s worth from this solution? Development and model training is easier for us since it tells us exactly what the issues are, instead of trying to guess or dealing with generic issues like accuracy is only 92%. We believe in using data to drive the decisions of what is most effective to do, so that we can ensure that we are always delivering the most business value possible.

After building IDP solutions for over 10 years we know what it takes to make a project successful. Along the way we found a plethora of tools and features that have made our jobs far easier in managing IDP solutions as well as allowing us to fix issues very quickly (usually in minutes). Now, we can offer this same superpower to our customers.

Comparison to IDPS Comprehend

You might be wondering what the difference is between IDPS Comprehend and IDPS Automate. IDPS Comprehend is the core IDP engine responsible for document classification and data extraction. IDPS Automate builds on this foundation by using the IDPS Comprehend engine under the hood and adding additional capabilities such as insights, model training, and advanced analysis.

Rather than reinventing the wheel, we designed IDPS Comprehend as a best-in-class standalone component that can be used independently of IDPS Automate. This gives us the best of both worlds: customers with existing platforms can integrate only the classification and extraction capabilities they need, while others can deploy the full end-to-end IDPS Automate solution.

Because both products share the same underlying codebase for classification and extraction, improvements are made once and benefit all customers simultaneously, all without duplicating effort. As a result, IDPS Comprehend and IDPS Automate deliver the same features, accuracy, performance, reliability, and speed for classification and extraction. Features

End-to-end Intelligent Document Processing (IDP)

Classification (via IDPS Comprehend): document type identification

Extraction (via IDPS Comprehend): structured field extraction from documents

Monitoring: system health monitoring for outages, performance degradation, and latency issues

Logging: comprehensive process logging to track document progress and measure processing time at each stage

Tracking: centralized log storage with an interface to track individual documents or batches

Reporting & Dashboards: generation of reports and dashboards for key operational and performance metrics

Analysis & Insights: process validation, performance analysis, and corrective action planning

Alerting: notifications when thresholds are exceeded (e.g., processing delays, server outages, excessive classification errors)

Model Feedback & Retraining Support: tracking corrected classifications and extractions to identify retraining needs and quantify their impact on processing accuracy

…all other features of IDPS Comprehend

Why Insights Matter?

IDPS Comprehend is intentionally designed to be highly granular, providing fine-grained control over every aspect of the system. We even employ certain non-standard design choices to streamline support and maintenance. This same philosophy extends to the architecture of IDPS Automate and how the two systems interoperate.

This intentional design allows us to pinpoint highly specific issues and implement targeted solutions with rapid turnaround. For example, we can disable a single document type or classifier if it begins causing issues, rather than relying on an all-or-nothing approach common in many IDP implementations. This significantly reduces manual effort, as problematic components can be isolated and corrected without disrupting the entire process.

With over 10 years of experience delivering successful IDP solutions, we understand the operational realities required for long-term success. Based on that experience, we’ve built a comprehensive set of tools that allow us to detect emerging issues early and respond quickly. This responsiveness is often the difference between correcting a small number of documents and having to shut down an entire workflow and revert to manual processing.

Overall, our platform is built with robust mechanisms that provide precise control, enabling faster issue resolution, greater stability, and more resilient IDP operations. This level of robustness is why quality metrics and analysis are critical to maintaining reliable production processing.

Feature Roadmap

Automated Model Analysis: detect classification and extraction configuration issues during document type setup and training, before models are deployed

Automated Retraining Feedback: streamline and automate the retraining feedback process, which is currently manual

Self-Service Portal: enable end users to configure document types, datasets, and models, identify issues, and manage workflows without manual intervention

Expanded Integrations: add more integrations, particularly with Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) tools

Increased Automation: expands automations across the platform to improve efficiency, scalability, and interoperability.

Pricing

IDPS Comprehend is priced on a per-page basis and includes all training/retraining, development, support, and ongoing maintenance. For additional details, please refer to the IDPS Comprehend product page.

IDPS Automate (On-Premises) is priced using the same per-page rate as IDPS Comprehend to cover classification and extraction. All additional Automate components are included in that fee, unless additional hardware is required to support them.

IDPS Automate (Hosted by IDPS or in the Cloud) is priced as the IDPS Comprehend per-page rate plus a fixed fee for the required services (such as cloud storage or hosted infrastructure).

There is no additional variable (per-page) cost beyond IDPS Comprehend because monitoring, tracking, retraining, and maintenance are already included. The primary difference is that we use our own tooling rather than the customer’s existing tools to perform these tasks. As a result, processing 1 million or 100 million pages per year, pricing does not increase with volume beyond the agreed per-page rate.

How it Works

  1. Discovery Call – We review your environment, requirements, and document types.
  2. Solution Planning – We design a deployment strategy based on your goals and infrastructure.
  3. Model Training or Calibration – We either train models from scratch or fine-tune pre-trained models.
  4. Validation – Models are tested against sample production documents to ensure accuracy.
  5. Integration – The solution is embedded into your existing workflows (where applicable).
  6. Ongoing Optimization – We monitor and adjust as needed to address data drift, ensuring accuracy even as document formats change over time.
